Harvesting water from the atmosphere, using the same principle of solar panels, provides a renewable source of quality drinking water, one of its proponents said Thursday.
Access to drinking water is a global constraint and Zero Mass Water Inc hopes to address this with its technology, said its CEO Cody Friesen.
“We basically take special materials that extract water from the atmosphere and then we use those materials combined with the solar approach to extract that water back out of those materials,” he told ANC.
Each panel has a 32-bit micro-processor that analyzes information such as humidity and sunlight to optimize water production. This makes the panels useful in far-flung areas and during disasters, he said.
