International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organization that combats violence and oppression in vulnerable communities. With five offices in India, IJM partners with local governments to specifically address human trafficking. As part of their bonded labor survivor rehabilitation efforts, IJM identified a village in the Vellore district of India, called Athiyanam, which was in need of a safe, resilient supply of drinking water to sustain the 10 survivor families living there.
Athiyanam faced severe water access issues due to long-term drought and lack of infrastructure, leaving residents with no local access to drinking water or electricity. Without the provision of these basic needs, residents were challenged from both an economic and community health standpoint.
Funded by the SWELECT Project’s CSR efforts, International Justice Mission and SOURCE installed eight Hydropanels in Athiyanam to provide a clean, safe, resilient supply of drinking water to families in the village. Today, with the renewed sense of hope provided by local access to drinking water, the residents are able to continue the healing process and focus on developing skills to thrive in freedom.
We’ve built custom solutions for water needs in more than 50 countries. Let’s build yours.
