Goal

On behalf of the Australian government, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is charged with identifying great ideas to unlock the potential of Australia’s vast renewable resources and fast-tracking the shift to a low-emissions economy.

Challenge

As the driest inhabited continent on earth, Australia faces significant challenges as it relates to dependence on bottled water and limited access to clean, renewable water in regional, rural and remote areas without clean drinking water infrastructure.

SOURCE Project

Under the ARENA pilot project, SOURCE Hydropanel arrays are installed at more than 30 sites across Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Byron Bay and Perth as well as regional towns, islands and rural communities. Using sunlight and air to make, mineralize, and deliver a perfected supply of drink-ing water without any electric or piped water input progresses the development of water independence using renewable technology that eliminates plastic or water waste.
